Accounting Associate - Accounts Receivable

Accounts Receivable AssistantResponsible for assisting with the maintaining of customers' accounts receivable. This role also serves to ensure that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of payment completed by the organization.Responsibilities and DutiesPost or oversee the accurate posting of customer payments to the accountsReview the customer accounts agingSend account statements to customersMake collection calls to customers for skipped invoices or delinquent account statusPrepare demand letters when appropriateMake recommendation to turn account over to collection when appropriateWork cooperatively with customer to resolve account discrepancies or disputesWork cooperatively with SEA sales group to use their customer relationship to help resolve issuesMaintain collection notesQualifications and SkillsHigh school diploma or equivalentAssociate degree preferred but not required1-2 years of previous accounting experience preferredBasic understanding of accounting principles as they related to the treatment of sales, accounts receivables and bad debtComprehension of the importance of monitoring Accounts ReceivableGood verbal and written communication skillsProblem solving ability and a pro-active and assertive approach to workProficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and OutlookDetail orientedPhysical RequirementsThis is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is requiredAbility to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessarySEA Wire and Cable is a leading logistical supplier to the Military and Commercial Aerospace market.
