You will oversee month-end close and prepare financial reporting for leadership and the Board, while also partnering with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc analysis.You will also take on higher-judgment finance work including pricing support, investor and audit inquiries, and building out infrastructure as the first full-time finance hire at Prism.
We expect this person to bring a genuine accounting foundation to the role while also being comfortable operating across the broader finance function.The ideal candidate has accounting expertise, thinks analytically about what the numbers mean for the business, and is excited about using AI tools to build a more efficient and scalable finance function at a growing startup. Fintech or financial services experience is a plus.This is a hybrid, in-person role in New York City with 3 days in-office per week.What You'll Do:Finance & Accounting OperationsOversee month-end close, reviewing and approving bookkeeper work to ensure accuracy and timelinessPrepare financial statements and management reports for leadership and the Board of DirectorsManage billing, accounts receivable, and collections, including direct follow-up when neededManage accounts payable and employee expense reimbursementsRespond to investor and audit inquiries with accuracy and professionalismPlanning & AnalysisPartner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actuals analysisPrepare ad hoc analyses to support data-driven decision making across leadershipSupport pricing work, including building or reviewing proposals and helping systematize our approach over timeFinancial Ops & AIDesign, build, and iterate on AI-powered workflows that automate repeatable finance processesHelp us think about what the finance function looks like in an AI-native company, and contribute to getting us thereQualificationsRequired3–6 years of professional accounting experience, with a genuine accounting foundationExperience with financial statement preparation and budget developmentSuperb Excel skills and comfort with financial modeling and data manipulationExperience with accounting software (QuickBooks Online a strong plus)Startup experience or a clear appetite for the pace and ambiguity of an early-stage companyDemonstrated interest in AI tools and their application to finance workPreferredCPA or working toward oneBackground in fintech or financial servicesExperience with Hubspot (or other CRMs), Ramp (or other spend-management platforms), and Tabs (or other revenue-management platforms)Hands-on experience building AI-assisted automations in a finance or accounting contextAttributes for SuccessAccounting foundation with the analytical instincts to operate across the broader finance functionClear communicator who can translate financial information for non-finance audiencesExcited about AI and automation as tools for building a more capable finance functionBias toward clarity, efficiency, and accountabilityStrong ownership mentality in a fast-moving, high-expectations environmentOther Information:Target base salary for this role is between $100,000 and $140,000 per year.
