Accounting & Finance ManagerThe Accounting & Finance Manager will have extensive experience leveraging accounting practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve complex assignments in which analysis of data requires review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. This person should be able to exercise sound judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and perform accounting functions independently.Minimum Education Required:Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting/finance, master's degree preferredCurrent CPA licenseMinimum Experience Required:15+ years of combined experience (staff accountant, senior staff accountant, or accounting manager)5+ years of management experienceStrong experience with corporate tax, multi-state payroll tax, and sales taxesExperience with Big Four CPA firm preferredRequired Skills:Senior-level knowledge of accounting principles (i.e., GAAP), practices, and procedures on manual and automated systemsExpert-level understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structureStrong understanding of financial statements and monthly variance analysis reportsProficiency using accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite)Demonstrated judgment, strong decision-making ability, effective problem-solving skills, and acute attention to detailExcellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets, and ability to learn additional programs as requiredJob Duties (including but not limited to):General Accounting (30%)Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactionsSupport budget and forecasting activitiesCollaborate with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives regarding budgetAdvise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactionsSupervise the general ledger to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are metAssign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracyMeet financial accounting objectivesTax and Compliance (30%)Ensure the monthly and quarterly compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate mannerPrepare and file corporate and member's income taxes (federal, state, and composite)Prepare and/or review monthly sales and payroll taxesPrepare quarterly estimates of income taxesEstablish business licenses (payroll withholding, sales, corporate income tax) and ensure compliance for annual reporting and filingRespond to state notices and find resolution in a timely mannerFinancial Reporting and Audit (20%)Create an efficient record-keeping system for maintaining files and transaction recordsEnsure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closeEnsure the timely reporting of all monthly entity-level and consolidated financial informationCoordinate with external auditors to provide necessary information to complete annual auditsRespond to inquiries from management regarding special financial reporting requestsProcess Improvement (10%)Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracyAssist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the departmentEstablish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principlesProvide recommendations to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actionSupport CFO with special projects and workflow process improvementsLeadership and People Management (10%)Hire, train, and develop staff while creating a positive work environment that stimulates intellectual growth and creativity and fosters a strong team environmentServe as mentor to staff in problem solving, decision making, and planning activitiesWork with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on progress toward enhancing the professional development of staffDemonstrate accountability and responsibility by independently completing projects/assignments on time while holding self and others accountable for meeting objectives and adhering to standardsPursue opportunities for personal growth and development through meetings and educational programsIdentify talent and the contributions of staff and establish an informal plan for successionNegotiate toward optimal resolution of issues, alerting human resources of potentially serious mattersCompensation and BenefitsCompetitive compensation (contingent on experience)Paid time off (based on sliding scale according to hire date and work hours)Comprehensive benefits package (medical, vision, dental, life, disability)401(k) plan for retirement with 4% employer matching (eligibility after 90 days of employment)On-site group fitness classes & relaxed work environmentSecurity Clearance Required: NoVisa Candidate Considered: NoCandidate Details15+ years experienceSeniority Level - Mid-SeniorManagement Experience Required - YesMinimum Education - Bachelor's DegreeWillingness to Travel - NeverIdeal Candidate - MBA, CPA
