AccountantThe Accountant will be a vital contributor to Well's Finance team as the company continues to grow and scale its business. The Accountant's key responsibilities will include maintaining Well's financial records and reports, assisting with Well's close processes, managing Well's accounts receivable and accounts payable, and supporting Well's annual financial audit. The Accountant will also assist the CFO and Controller on various strategic finance projects and respond to information requests by management and Well's auditors as needed.
The ability to accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is a critical skill set for this role. Additionally, the Accountant should have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. As part of an early-stage, high growth business, the Accountant will also have the opportunity to be a hands-on contributor to support multiple areas of Well, including finance, business planning and budgeting, fundraising, human resources, and administration.Key ResponsibilitiesPreparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processesPerforming monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including cash disbursement accounts, payroll accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accountsEnsuring Well's financial statements comply with GAAPVerifying and/or completing payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accountsMaintaining documentation for accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, and treasurySupporting the filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies by sharing data with tax professionalsResponding to information requests, reviewing financial statements, and assisting with Well's annual financial auditSupporting implementation and maintenance of a robust set of financial management/admin systems and processesAssisting the CFO and Controller as neededMeeting processing and reporting deadlinesPreferred Qualifications1-2 years of accounting experienceExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalGood problem-solving and time management skillsKnowledge of GAAPHighly organized and detail-orientedTechnology savvy with experience working in various financial software applicationsMinimum of an Associates in accounting or financeCertifications are encouraged, but not required.
