Accountant

AccountantThe Accountant is responsible for general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations related to Fresh Express corporate accounting and TransFresh. This position requires solid understanding of related business concepts and their applications, ability to review and analyze information, and develop an understanding of the business and the financial reporting for the business. Projects involve implementation of processes to support changing business needs and internal control compliance.Essential Functions, Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for timely and accurate month-end accounting close and associated tasksResponsible for updating and manipulating multiple databasesPrepare monthly variance and trend analysis reportsPrepare related account reconciliations and review General Ledger account balances for compliance with GAAP and internal controlsProvide financial support to the business through teamwork with analysts to provide meaningful information and reporting of the businessIdentify, communicate, and recommend solutions for raw accounting issues and problemsSeek opportunities to streamline and improve accounting transactions and work with the business to provide accounting and analytical support to meet internal customer needsInvestigate troubled accounts, communicate problems and provide solutionsBe able to deliver under pressure for deadlinesAd hoc reports as neededRequired Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesExcellent oral and written communication skills; with responsive feedback at all timesMicrosoft Excel skills to include VLOOKUP, pivot table, external linking, and respect for proper database management and accuracy to ensure data quality and integrityStrong PC skills including working knowledge of Excel and ERP softwareKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and applicationMust have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticismStrong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilitiesOrganization, attention to detail and the ability to analyze dataRequired Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceMinimum of 1+ years General Accounting experienceStrong written and verbal communication skillsRaw / Food Industry experience is a plusLanguage Requirements: English, Spanish knowledge helpfulThe statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed, as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
