Our client, a global luxury travel company, is hiring an Accountant for its Chicago finance team. This is a hands-on accounting role covering reconciliations, journal entries, audit support and process improvement, plus responsibility for the company's domestic and international payroll. You'll partner with colleagues across the business and see how the numbers connect to the work.

What you'll do
Core accounting
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile payroll, benefit, insurance, vacation, sick leave and related liability accounts to the general ledger
- Maintain accurate, complete and compliant accounting records and documentation
- Support external audits, tax activities and benefit plan reporting, including Form 5500
- Review and prepare recurring reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end basis
- Help ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Look for ways to strengthen processes, controls and reporting
Payroll
- Process domestic and international payroll accurately and on schedule, working with the company's payroll platform and international providers
- Manage payroll deductions, tax codes, garnishments and retirement plan and FSA funding
- Answer payroll questions and resolve issues with providers and internal xhqgsiq teams
Working with the business
- Monitor timecard compliance and deadlines and follow up with employees and supervisors
- Partner with colleagues across the company to keep everything accurate and on schedule
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 to 6 years of general accounting experience that includes exposure to payroll
- Solid knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail, organization and the ability to manage competing priorities
