Additional Job Description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department ofMedicine seek Gastroenterologists (ranks available: AssistantProfessor, Associate Professor, or Professor). Successfulcandidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV and/orFairmont, WV.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas ofgastroenterology and hepatology. In addition to providing excellentpatient care, the successful candidate will also be activelyinvolved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications: Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or foreignequivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Candidatesmust have completed an accredited internal medicine residencyprogram and gastroenterology fellowship and be board eligible/boardcertified in gastroenterology and hepatology. All qualificationsmust be met by the time of appointment.

Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer acomplete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats amedically diverse population, and has exposure to clinicallychallenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy centerincluding state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures andERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics.

Tremendous institutional support for academic pursuits particularlypertaining to chronic viral hepatitis and inflammatory boweldisease is available. We offer treatment to those in West Virginiaas well as patients from five border states.

There is a culture of professionalism and cooperation within theDepartment of Medicine. The growing Section of Digestive Diseasesoffers opportunities to build and design programs within a largereferral academic center.
