Position Details

The Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Family Medicine, in conjunction with IU Health Medical Group, is seeking candidates for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Clinical Family Medicine. This opportunity is with the Family Medicine Residency Practice located in central Indianapolis and offers a unique chance to be a part of the full continuum of academic medicine. The faculty member will have the following opportunities:

  • Flexible clinical work between inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Opportunities for clinical excellence and collaboration within one of the largest health systems in the U.S. with all care settings from tertiary/quaternary to rural health care
  • Teaching and mentoring students and residents

Qualifications

  • Must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent education
  • Board‑eligible or board‑certified with the American Board of Family Medicine
  • Ability to obtain Indiana licensure

About The Family Medicine Center Residency

The Family Medicine Clinic team is focused on providing the best care to its community while also preparing the next generation of family medicine providers. The clinic serves a large, underserved population within the Indianapolis area and offers a range of additional clinical services, including OB‑Gyn, sports medicine, geriatrics, pain‑related care, gender‑affirming care, travel medicine, and procedural services.

Healthcare System/Hospital Description

IU Health Methodist Hospital is a large tertiary referral center with 1,000 beds and over 130 ICU beds. It serves as the largest trauma center in Indianapolis and is a highly subspecialized center for cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, lung transplantation, and neurocritical care. IU Health is building a new downtown hospital and campus that will consolidate the administrations of IU Health Methodist and University Hospitals. Construction is underway and the new hospital is set to open in late 2027, featuring three 16‑story towers with 864 beds. The IU School of Medicine is also constructing a medical education and research building directly east of the new hospital.
