Academic Cytopathologist – UCSF

Department of Pathology – University of California, San Francisco. Full‑time faculty position for an Academic Cytopathologist at the Clinical Instructor level or higher. The incumbent is expected to engage in night and weekend surgical pathology call, departmental teaching activities for medical students, house staff, fellows, and interdepartmental conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call.
  • Teach medical students, house staff, fellows, and attend interdepartmental conferences.
  • Engage in clinical and translational research, preferably in surgical pathology or a related subspecialty.

Qualifications

  • MD degree (or equivalent) and a valid California medical license (or ability to obtain one at the time of appointment).
  • Board certified in Anatomic Pathology and board‑eligible or board‑certified in Cytopathology.
  • Preferred: Fellowship training in surgical pathology or a surgical pathology subspecialty, publications, and demonstrated participation in clinical and/or translational research.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Salary & Benefits

Base salary range $106,000–$405,900, commensurate with experience and training, plus eligibility for additional compensation under the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.
