Job Summary: The Academic Coach & Early Alert Coordinator supports student success, retention, and degree completion by providing academic coaching and coordinating the university's early alert process. This position collaborates with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to identify academic challenges, provide appropriate support, and promote student persistence.

Essential Duties:

  • Utilizes predictive analytics, the early alert system, and other student success reports to identify students who may be experiencing academic challenges or may be at risk of not achieving their educational goals.
  • Maintains regular communication with students to provide academic coaching, encouragement, and support to promote persistence and successful degree completion.
  • Provides proactive interventions and connects students with appropriate internal and external resources to address barriers to academic success.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and academic advisors to monitor student progress, identify challenges, and support students in achieving their educational goals.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies, programs, and services that promote student success and retention.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of student success initiatives, academic coaching practices, and strategies that promote student retention and degree completion.
  • Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Student information systems and the ability to learn university systems, such as Banner, within three months of employment.
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to provide academic guidance, coaching, and support to students.
  • Presentation of information to both small and large groups of prospective and current students.
  • Active listening, problem solving, and addressing sensitive situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Analyze student success data and utilize predictive analytics and early alert information to support student outcomes.
  • Provide academic coaching, motivation, and guidance to students.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships while contributing to a collaborative, student-centered environment.
  • Work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities and maintaining effective communication.
  • Receive and respond positively to constructive feedback.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in counseling, academic advising, student retention programs, or related student support services.
