Overview

The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a full-time clinical faculty position as a Surgical Pathologist with subspecialty expertise in bone and soft tissue pathology. The academic appointment will be at the rank of Health Science Clinical Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on level of experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in night and weekend surgical pathology call.
  • Engage in departmental teaching activities for medical students, house‑staff, and fellows.
  • Contribute to interdepartmental conferences.
  • Provide outstanding diagnostic and interpersonal skills and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

  • MD (or equivalent) and a valid California Medical License.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology by the time of appointment.
  • Completion of fellowship training within anatomic pathology or equivalent clinical experience (minimum 3 years of sign‑out experience) at the time of appointment.
  • Formal bone and soft tissue pathology fellowship training preferred, with demonstrated scholarly activities in the subspecialty.

Salary and Benefits

The minimum base salary range for this position is $106,000 – $405,900, determined by rank and step at appointment. The position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides eligibility for additional compensation.
