Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to lead lower level addiction counselors working in the Outpatient Program (OP) and with clients in the Medicated Assistant Treatment program by providing clinical oversight and guidance. This position also provides individual, group and family counseling services to clients. This position will work with Buprenorphine prescribers, nurses and clients to meet needs. This position is designated as emergency essential.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

Experience : Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Certified Associate Counselors-Alcohol and Drug.

Desired Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the MAT program and how to schedule clients.
  • Experience in communicating with local agencies.
  • Experience with managing caseloads to include authorizations and treatment plans.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations , candidates must be certified by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Special Requirements

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations , Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
