Math Instructional Coach
The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 has an opening for a full-time 7th/8th Grade Math Instructional Coach at Carleton Washburne School for the School Year. The position reports to the Building Administrator and the Assistant Superintendent of Innovation, Teaching and Learning. The coach will not supervise any staff.
The role involves providing instructional support to the Director and staff in various curricular areas based on school year priorities. The coach will facilitate the development of the District's instructional program, work collaboratively with teachers to design lessons, and engage in refining instructional skills to develop student proficiency. The coach will also plan instructional scope and sequence, observe and participate in classroom instruction, assist in the development of assessments, and research, evaluate, and create supplemental materials and resources in the assigned discipline.
The coach will initiate and build relationships that are highly respectful and supportive, promote an environment that values reflection and continuous improvement, and establish a framework for collaborating with teachers. They will co-facilitate the various stages of the Curriculum Review Process, participate in leadership development opportunities, guide implementation of Cornerstone Assessments, and attend meetings and professional development opportunities.
The coach will model professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and personal growth, plan and deliver professional development in the content area, attend leadership team meetings, support the implementation of instructional initiatives and School Improvement Goals, and serve as a liaison between the District/Principal/Township and colleagues.
Additional job functions include performing other duties as directed by the Superintendent, Department of Innovation, Teaching and Learning, or Building Principal/Assistant Principal. The coach must have an appropriate Illinois Professional Educator's License with academic requirements for the specific position, 4 or more years of relevant classroom teaching experience, strong knowledge of the subject matter, strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships in a supportive professional environment.
Physical requirements include a moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds required in the physical assistance of students with special needs. The coach must be able to move freely to various locations within the classroom, office, and other business and community settings, and be exposed to noise and activity of a school setting and outdoor weather conditions.
Salary and fringe benefits are determined by the WEA professional agreement.
