Assistant Store Manager

Position Summary

Assistant Store Managers are the heart and soul of the Lids brand. They foster customer passion for sporting and fashion goods, ensuring that all store areas are engaging and that the company’s performance objectives are met through exceptional customer service and store leadership.

Responsibilities

People & Training

  • Act as manager on duty for scheduling, complaints, and other responsibilities when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Manage store associates through LIDS Training Programs, goal‑setting, and follow‑up.
  • Administer progressive discipline in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Engage team in a fun, productive environment and explain how their work supports store success.
  • Contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment and enforce brand standards.
  • Schedule and staff the store, calling in associates during unexpected peaks.
  • Assist in recruiting and training store personnel on operations and procedures.
  • Encourage compliance with company policies, inventory safeguards, and financial controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Customer Experience

  • Lead, execute, and support Lids selling strategy to achieve KPIs and sales targets.
  • Resolve customer feedback and escalations promptly, striving to “make it right.”
  • Encourage participation in membership programs and special in‑store offers.
  • Maintain visual merchandising, signage, and store cleanliness per guidelines.
  • Present a professional appearance in line with the company dress code.

Operations

  • Implement company‑level directives, promotions, and initiatives.
  • Follow Policies & Procedures manual for a safe work environment.
  • Maintain store technology and equipment, including daily audits and updates.
  • Oversee facilities and supplies, submitting repair orders and replenishing stock.
  • Manage cash with accurate till procedures and protection practices.
  • Support inventory audits and preparation.
  • Open and close the store per Operations P&P manual.

Product & Inventory Management

  • Protect company assets in line with LIDS Retail policies.
  • Prepare proper work schedules within wage control guidelines.
  • Handle inventory transactions: receiving, transfers, price changes, and counts.
  • Organize the backroom efficiently to maximize productivity.
  • Execute visual merchandising, window activations, and seasonal changes.
  • Maintain store look through day‑to‑day VM actions.
  • Adjust pricing signage and promotional displays during operating hours.

Job Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Achieve sales results while minimizing loss.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.

Physical Demands & Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional ladder climbing and overhead work.
  • Constant standing and frequent walking during shifts.
  • Frequent verbal communication with customers and staff.
  • Frequent visual observation of store and written or digital information.
  • Frequent use of computers and mobile POS systems, including related software.
