Location: Allen Early Learning Academy

Hours: 35 hours weekly Monday Friday, 8:00 am-3:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Demonstrate ability to work with parents, students and support personnel.
• Good communication skills.
• Good attendance record.
• Good organization skills.
• Ability to be self-directed.
• Ability to engage in problem identification and solving.

Responsibilities:

• Assigned to work in education classroom with student with 504 plan.
• Functions under the direct supervision of a general education teacher and has contact with professionals in developing work assignments, job responsibilities and services to the student.
• Performs those health care, instructional or other related assignments developed by a building principal, school nurse and classroom teacher(s) specific to the student.
• Assists the classroom in the implementation of health care, instructional programs and the management of student needs.
• Operates equipment used in the general education program for the production of printed or other audio-visual instructional materials; including computer technology and computer programs.
• Works collaboratively with education professionals to help modify assignments to fit student needs.
• Performs other tasks as directed and supervised by education professionals, including sensory activities, oral motor activities and administering medication.
• Supports classroom as well as in general education activities, inclusion, lunch/eating, recess, arrival/dismissal and any other aspects of the student's day.
• Monitors established goals and objectives for the student.
• Provides clinic/first aid/medication support to students.
• Supervises elementary students in the lunchroom, halls, and outside as assigned by supervisor.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Reports To: Building Principal

Rate of Pay: Class II - $17.38

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to stand and talk or hear.
• Sometimes walk and sit.
• Occasionally bend or twist at the neck more than the average person.
• Occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
