Production Lead - CNC TurningThe Production Lead - CNC Turning is a critical role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our CNC turning department. This individual will ensure the efficient and high-quality production of precision parts, lead and mentor a team of CNC machinists, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC turning, strong leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee Production: Coordinate and prioritize daily production schedules to meet deadlines and customer demands.Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal machine utilization.Oversee the setup and operation of CNC turning centers, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of finished parts, addressing any non-conformances.Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and train a team of CNC machinists, fostering a positive and productive work environment.Provide guidance and technical support to team members on complex machining processes.Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for skill development.Promote and enforce safety protocols and best practices within the department.Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.Collaborate with engineering and quality departments to resolve production issues and improve part manufacturability.Participate in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).Utilize data and metrics to track performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform minor machine maintenance and preventive checks.Diagnose and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, working with maintenance personnel for more complex repairs.Ensure proper tooling management, including ordering, inventory, and maintenance.Reporting: Generate daily production reports, detailing output, scrap rates, and any issues encountered.Communicate effectively with management on production status, challenges, and opportunities.QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED required.Associate's degree or vocational training in Machining Technology, CNC Programming, or a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist, with a strong emphasis on CNC turning.At least 2-3 years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment.Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting multi-axis CNC turning centers (e.g., Haas, Mazak, Okuma, Doosan, Star, Citizen).Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming; ability to edit and optimize programs.Experience with various materials (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, brass, plastics, exotic alloys).Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, optical comparators).Skills & Abilities: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and precision.Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).Proficient in using a variety of hand tools and shop equipment.Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite).Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Commitment to safety and quality.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.Good manual dexterity and visual acuity.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, coolants, and oils.LocationASI Turning Center of Excellence - 560 Bluemound Road Waukesha, WI 53188Benefits PackageMedical, Dental and Vision InsuranceCompany Paid Short & Long-Term Disability InsuranceCompany Paid Employee and Dependent Life InsuranceEmployee, Spouse and Child Life InsuranceCritical Illness InsurancePrescription Drug Benefits401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with Employer Match96 hours (12 days) Paid Time Off to start10 Paid Holidays per yearHealth Savings Plans (HSA, FSA and Dependent Flexible Spending Accounts)Eligibility to participate in the ONE Fisher Barton Quarterly Bonus PlanTuition AssistanceWellness ProgramsApprenticeship ProgramsOff-Site Team Building EventsOn-Site Cookouts and Celebrations
