This frontline leadership role supports and implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements in operation methods and equipment, and manages team performance. The Operations Supervisor coordinates with other supervisors to ensure all operational activities are integrated effectively, leads continuous improvement initiatives, and develops employees through coaching, mentoring, and training to build a high-performing manufacturing team.Responsibilities:Operations Leadership & CoordinationPlan, direct, and assign work activities in the upholstery manufacturing department to optimize productivity and meet production targetsCoordinate with other supervision to ensure all operational activities are integrated as a cohesive whole across shifts and departmentsSupport and implement company policies and procedures while recommending improvements in operation methods, equipment, people, materials, and working conditionsMake decisions and solve problems by analyzing information and evaluating results to optimize production efficiencyCommunicate product or material issues with appropriate individuals including Quality, Engineering, and Materials Management teamsMonitor production schedules and adjust priorities to meet changing business needsContinuous Improvement & Performance ManagementManage and improve functional areas and institute performance measures through use and interpretation of Continuous Improvement tools including Lean and Six Sigma methodologiesImprove working conditions and processes (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) by supporting and directing employees to participate in improvement programsAssist functional area Superintendent or Manager to improve systems of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, and performance managementAnalyze data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for process optimizationLead kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, and improvement projects to eliminate waste and enhance efficiencyTeam Leadership & Employee DevelopmentListen, respond to, and address employee concerns in a timely and professional mannerCoordinate and manage the work of employees by directing team members to meet area goals and production objectivesManage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements through coaching, mentoring, and administering performance reviewsRecommend, plan, and/or implement employee training and skill development activities to build organizational capabilityCommunicate company and departmental issues and goals through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and company-offered learning opportunitiesFacilitate employee growth and development by identifying career paths and providing developmental opportunitiesMake employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.Audit, maintain, and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate and comply with company policiesQuality & Safety ManagementMaintain a safe work environment by ensuring employees wear PPE (personal protective equipment) and follow safety compliance protocolsMaintain departmental equipment to ensure proper and safe operationsConduct safety audits and address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediatelyLead safety meetings and promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the departmentAudit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to and quality standards are maintainedInvestigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrenceResource ManagementManage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materialsMonitor material flow and coordinate with Materials Management to ensure adequate supply of production materialsAnalyze and resolve employees' problems in a timely manner to minimize disruptionsControl departmental costs while maintaining production and quality standardsCore Values DemonstrationDemonstrate the Company's Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functionsModel expected behaviors and hold team accountable to company values and standardsQualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent requiredMinimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment requiredPrevious supervisory experience preferredExperience with manufacturing or warehouse equipment and department processes desiredStrong leadership and team management skills with ability to motivate and develop employeesExcellent problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesStrong communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple prioritiesProficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteUnderstanding of production metrics and KPIsAbility to work 2nd shift hours: Monday - Thursday, 6:00 PM - 4:30 AMPhysical ability to walk production floors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs as neededAdditional Qualifications, Preferred:Associate's degree in Supervisory Management, Manufacturing Technology, Business Administration, or related field3+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience in furniture, upholstery, or related industryExperience with industry-leading, high-speed automated equipment and manufacturing systemsLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)Knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and capacity managementExperience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms)Understanding of quality management systems and statistical process controlBackground in employee relations and conflict resolutionFamiliarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety managementExperience in upholstery manufacturing processes including cutting, sewing, and assembly operationsWork Environment:This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation.

The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
