Equipment OperatorOur company is looking for an experienced Equipment Operator to run fabrication machines in our structural shop, during 2nd shift and/or split shift hours.This employee will be responsible for operating machines such as: AGT Welding Station, Drill Line, Angle Line, Saw, Coper, and Shot Blaster, as well as repairing and maintaining equipment in addition to other duties. These items include but are not limited to:Read and interpret drawings, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture per job specifications.Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding and fabrication trade including portable grinders.Analyze blueprints, specifications, sketches and work orders.Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.Assist with repair and maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments or assisting with major repairs as necessary.Keep records of material or equipment usage or problems encountered.Operate conveyors and overhead cranes to move material.Clean and lubricate machines per manufacturer's specifications.Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Machine Operator Required Skills:High school diploma or equivalentGeneral knowledge of steel fabrication processKnowledge of structural shapes a plusAbility to speak, read and write in EnglishValid driver's licensePhysically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassistedPhysically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of timeAble to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other techniciansAbility to prioritize tasks and follow specified proceduresSelf-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitudeWillingness to work overtime as neededMust be willing to submit a drug test and background checkBenefits:Competitive salary (based on skill set)Health Insurance (includes annual vision exam)Dental InsuranceLife Insurance401(k) Plan with Employer Match / Profit SharingFull Time PositionVacation / Holidays / Earned Days / BirthdaysShepard Steel is a structural steel and miscellaneous fabrication company that has been an integral part of the Connecticut construction landscape for over 65 years.
