The 2nd Shift Flexo Press Lead is responsible for coordinating the activities of the pressroom and warehouse staff to make sure that all work is performed according to quality standards. This position offers onsite training and the opportunity to learn a valuable skilled trade in the printing industry.

Press Operators and Warehouse employees on this shift report indirectly to the 2nd shift Flexo Press Lead.Pay Rate: $21.50-$29.00/hour for an Experienced Flexo Press Operator with leadership experience plus $1.00/hour shift differential and $2.00/hour lead paySchedule: 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday, 2:00PM-12:30AM, with occasional overtimeResponsibilities:Serve as the lead for 2nd shift by providing assistance to employees in the department when questions or issues/challenges arise, communicating necessary information to pressroom and warehouse employees, and ensuring that they understand critical issues (ex.

production reports, job analysis, etc.)Ensure all safety policies, rules, and regulations are enforced and followedEnsure that quality of production adheres to or exceeds company guidelinesExecute daily schedule through coordination with Pressroom Manager, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Press AssistantsReview job ticket information to ensure ink, anilox, and press configuration are documented and accurateOperate press as needed (load dies into press, install cylinders, mix ink, fill ink pans and screens with ink, adjust speed of press, cut samples, perform inspections, clean plates as needed, conduct monthly maintenance as required, etc.), depending on workload and staffingDemonstrate ability to lead others, be a team player, help others by answering questions, report concerns to Pressroom Manager, and handle difficult situations in a tactful and respectful mannerWork safely, keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standardsPerform other duties as requestedKey Characteristics That We Are Looking For:Leadership skills and the ability to handle difficult situations in a tactful, professional, and respectful mannerMechanical Aptitude: Able to understand and apply mechanical concepts effectively, has solid and sound knowledge of equipment, tools, programs, and systems, follows safety protocols and procedures, and works confidently and safely in a manufacturing settingTeamwork and Cooperation: Acts as a team player that balances team and individual responsibilities; Exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views; Gives and welcomes feedback; Contributes to building a positive team spirit; Puts success of team above own interests; Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed.Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information, develops alternative solutions, and uses reason when handling a variety of situationsAbility to multitask: Able to complete multiple tasks effectively at once in a safe and productive mannerStrong work ethic, willingness to learn, and positive attitudeQualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years of lead/supervisory experience in a high-quality Flexo pressroom environmentKnowledge of overall production processesKnowledge of all pressroom and warehouse procedures, equipment processes, general maintenance, and ability to manage all operations on shiftKnowledge of process capability, color theory, scheduling, safety, and quality proceduresAt least 1 year of narrow-web Flexo printing experience requiredFlexo press, narrow-web printing, flexible packaging, screen printing, and/or label printing/packaging experience, preferredMulti-color printing experienceExperience with color matching, die cutting, plate mounting, and conducting changeoversAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimalsMust be able to read and interpret ruler, scales and other measurement devicesSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focusKnowledge of industrial and mechanical engineering is a plusWork Environment:Primarily works in a manufacturing setting, which contains equipment and machinery that can be noisy and hazardousIs frequently exposed to moving mechanical partsIs occasionally exposed to chemicals, some of which could be hazardousNoise level is usually moderatePhysical Demands:Regularly required to stand, talk, and hearOccasionally required to walk, and use hands to handle or feelOccasionally required to lift or move up to 40 pounds
