Firm: >$3B REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT MANAGER (DALLAS)
Location: Dallas, TX · In office Monday–Thursday (4 days per week)
Firm Snapshot:
A well-established Dallas-based real estate investment manager running $3B+ in its real estate debt fund strategy. The finance and accounting team is long-tenured and stable, and the platform is actively growing. This hire
backfills a seat opened by an internal promotion.
Role Overview:
- A step-up ownership seat over a set of highly complex closed-end real estate debt funds — keeping the funds running cleanly across close, funding, and reporting.
- Blended accounting and fund operations, not a pure production accounting role.
- You sit inside the business, work directly with asset management and acquisitions, and are in deal calls and pipeline meetings.
- Oversee and direct the third-party fund administrator
- Handle investor requests and understand the mechanics behind them, not just process them.
- Reports to the Director of Accounting and partners closely with the CFO.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting and operations for closed-end real estate debt funds
- Review quarterly workpapers, financial statements, and investor/partner reporting prepared by the third-party administrator
- Review capital calls, distributions, and investor allocation calculations
- Support management fee, carried interest, and complex waterfall calculations
- Participate in quarterly fair value processes, including valuation support and coordination
- Support liquidity management, including credit facility activity and deal-level funding
- Facilitate foreign currency hedging and related reporting
- Coordinate interim and annual audits, including preparation and review of audit materials
- Partner with asset management, acquisitions, and the client solutions group on reporting and ad hoc requests
- Help build and improve reporting processes and operational workflows
- Support new product launches and fund structuring initiatives
Qualifications:
- 7–12 years of accounting experience is the target; 5–12 years considered depending on background and progression
- Background from a buy-side alternative asset manager, fund administrator or public accounting firm with private equity / private equity real estate clients
- Public accounting foundation (Big 4) is a strong plus; a mix of public accounting and fund administration experience is ideal
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred
