What You’ll Actually Do

Mechanical Engineers support operating facilities and projects through the application of technical engineering knowledge and project management skills.

  • Optimizing facilities to deliver maximum value safely and reliably.
  • Providing technical engineering support for turnarounds and projects.
  • Developing and deploying industry-leading technologies to reduce carbon, increase efficiency, and maximize returns.
  • Using digitalization and data analytics to improve process operations and safety.

Career Development

Entry‑level Mechanical Engineers enroll in Chevron’s Horizons Program, an early‑career development program that includes formal training, on‑the‑job competency development, mentoring, and multiple job assignments. After graduation, engineers may pursue roles such as:

  • Reliability & Integrity Engineering – asset integrity, reliability, and maintainability of operating assets.
  • Technical Safety Engineering – hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Subsea Engineering – design and integration of subsea equipment and pipelines.
  • Engineering Design & Projects – high quality designs and predictable project execution.
  • General Facilities Engineering – support of operating facilities with fundamental technical engineering and small projects.

What You Must Have

  • Students completing the last year of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering; or individuals with a bachelor’s or master’s degree and two years or less of directly related work experience.
  • Strong academic performance in core mechanical engineering programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to drive on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Chevron Way.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $108,000 – $136,300. Compensation is determined based on degree level and discipline.

Benefits include variable pay, health care coverage, retirement plan, protection coverage, paid time off, training and development opportunities, and various allowances.

Relocation & International Considerations

Relocation may be considered. This position does not sponsor work visas or consider individuals on time‑limited visa status. Candidates not affected by U.S. export controls may be considered.
