Accounting SupervisorQualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, and related work experienceAt least two years accounting experienceKnowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting, and financial accounting systemsKnowledge of state and federal purchasing regulationsAbility to create and maintain extensive amounts of data and/or documentation in a highly organized manner and develop appropriate report formatsAbility to analyze, interpret and use data in decision-makingAbility to perform accurate mathematical computationsAbility to plan, organize, set priorities, and work independentlyAbility to use considerable independent judgmentAbility to work under time constraints and deadlines, and shift when priorities changeAbility to communicate clearly orally and in writingAbility to exhibit professionalism with district staff, vendors and the publicAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly and with integrityProficient in the use of standard office equipmentProficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programsAbility to multitaskSupervises: Departmental staff as assigned staffReports To: Chief Financial OfficerJob Goal: Provide assistance in the timely and efficient administration of the fiscal affairs of the district and provide fiscal support to schools and departments.Typical Duties And Responsibilities:Performs bank reconciliations and brings timely resolution of outstanding itemsPerforms initial review of purchase requisitions and facilitates the issuance of purchase ordersEnters purchase requisitions for Business Office and district-related purchasesProvides oversight in the monitoring of outstanding requisitions and purchase ordersManages activity fund transactions and completes monthly activity fund reportsCoordinates the bid process for products and services requiring bidsPrepares and submits legal advertisements for notices, hearings and other required postingsCompletes district credit applications for review and approvalOversees credit accounts and ensures balances remain currentMaintains the vendor databaseProvides guidance on travel procedures, handles travel card accommodations, and processes travel reimbursement requestsManages teacher procurement card process, maintains card inventories, and assists with procurement card issuesManages accounts receivable and ensures balances are currentRecords daily depositsConducts price comparisons to ensure that all goods and services are offered at the lowest and best price possibleMaintains surety bond files and ensures proper coverage and paymentProcesses workers' compensation claims, monitor losses and ensures payment of premiumsEnsures all debt payments are made according to debt schedulesPrepares 941 quarterly tax returnsVerifies weekly time and attendance records of Business Office staff for approvalPerforms internal reviews of fiscal processes to ensures accuracy and integrityAssists with the performance of year-end closing procedures and preparation of year-end financial statementsAssists with annual budget preparationManages petty cash and other small district office accountsAssists with retrieving information for auditors and upon requestSupervises Business Office staff in the absence of Chief Financial OfficerAssists other department personnel as appropriate and necessaryDemonstrates prompt and regular attendanceSupports the Mission, Vision, and Strategic PlanPerforms other duties as assignedTerms Of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of TrusteesEvaluation: Annually
