Licensed Specialist In School Psychology-InternPrimary Purpose: The person in this position assists the schools in the development of appropriate educational programs for students by conducting full individual evaluations, providing direct counseling, consultative psychological services, and conducting and/or participating in ARD meetings for students while under the supervision of a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology.QualificationsEducation: Currently enrolled in a graduate program for students pursuing a Specialist's Degree or Master's Degree in School Psychology.Major Responsibilities and DutiesConduct Full Individual Evaluations as part of the multi-disciplinary evaluation team to identify students who may be eligible for special education servicesFacilitate and conduct the ARD committee meetings on a regular basis using the District Special Education Software IEP programUtilize the District Special Education Software IEP program to keep accurate ARD information on all special education studentsProvide consultations regarding results of evaluation or other questions of a psychological nature to school personnel and parentsProvide counseling to students as recommended by an ARDWork collaboratively with campus administration to ensure State Assessment requirements are fulfilled and current State Assessment information is available for appropriate personnelCollaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop the IEP through the ARD committee process for each student assignedMonitor implementation of the IEP/ARD and support service recommendationsAssist special education teachers in developing appropriate IEPs for their studentsCollaborate with Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) Chair as appropriateCollaborate, assist, and coordinate: Implementation of effective instructional strategies and modifications Appropriate instructional strategies/activities Use of learning strategies, materials, and equipment With regular education classroom teacher to modify regular curriculum or differentiate instructionConsult district and outside resource people regarding education, psychological, social, medical, and personal needs of studentsProvide short-term services for students such as crisis counseling, suicide prevention, and behavior consultationConsult with district personnel on problem issues and crisis management as they relate to studentsEstablish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachersProvide ongoing information to parents regarding Transition servicesMaintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community membersUse effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearlyCompile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents requiredFacilitate materials directivesParticipation in staff development activities to improve job-related skillsMaintain understanding of and comply with federal, state, district, and school procedures, regulations, and policies for the special education processAttend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as requiredPerform other duties as assignedWorking ConditionsMental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); coordinate campus support functions; maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands/Environmental Factors: Occasional district-wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours
