1:1 Aide Position
The 1:1 Aide provides individualized academic, behavioral, social, and personal support to a student with identified educational needs under the direction of certified teachers, the special education team, and school administration. The aide assists the student in accessing the general education curriculum, implementing Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, promoting independence, and maintaining a safe, positive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct one-on-one instructional support throughout the school day.
- Assist the student in completing classroom assignments and participating in instructional activities.
- Implement accommodations and modifications outlined in the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Reinforce teacher-directed lessons and instructional strategies.
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate levels of assistance.
- Assist with organization, time management, and transitions between classes and school activities.
- Promote positive peer interactions and social skill development.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with district policies and federal regulations.
- Assist with supervision during lunch, recess, field trips, assemblies, and other school activities as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or principal.
Qualifications:
- Illinois Paraprofessional License or other state-required qualifications preferred or required.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an educational team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times.
