Position Overview
Blue Plate Catering is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to manage our financial operations. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, from daily AR/AP to month-end reporting and business intelligence.
The position typically requires about 30 hours per week, with the option to work closer to 40 hours during busier periods or as responsibilities grow. This structure is ideal for someone who wants a steady role with flexibility. Blue Plate Catering employs about 35 full-time team members and operates in a fast-moving hospitality environment where accurate financial information matters.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management: Maintain internal financial statements and ensure the accurate and timely generation of all financial reports.
Accounts Receivable/Payable: Manage the full cycle of invoicing, vendor payments, and credit reconciliations.
Cash Flow & Banking: Perform daily banking reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and manage monthly bank statement audits.
Payroll & Taxes: Compile payroll data and ensure compliance with sales and use tax reporting.
Budgeting & Reporting: Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and provide ad-hoc financial analysis for management.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for system automation and workflow improvements to increase departmental efficiency.
Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and billing discrepancies, maintaining professional relationships with all external partners.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business (CPA license a plus).
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Analytical Skills: Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable business intelligence insights.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Requirements: Must possess a valid Driver’s License and pass a standard background check.
Physical Demands
Standard office environment with the ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift/move office supplies or files weighing up to 35 lbs.
