VOICE UP Faith, Ministry & Community Impact Internship Your Talent. God's Word. Real Community Impact. OVERVIEW Voice Up invites students and emerging leaders into a purpose-centered internship built on one foundational truth: God has already placed something powerful inside you. The starting point of this internship is not a program it is you. Each participant selects a topic they are personally passionate about, something connected to their natural talents, interests, or life experience. From that starting point, Voice Up walks alongside them through two transformational connections: first, how God's Word speaks directly to that topic, and second, how that same topic can create measurable, meaningful impact in their local community. This is ministry as self-discovery. Service as activation. Research as confirmation of calling. THE CORE MODEL: TOPIC SCRIPTURE COMMUNITY IMPACT Every intern begins by naming their topic. It can come from any domain education, music, sports, mental health, finance, nature, cooking, technology, storytelling, athletics, entrepreneurship, family, art, or any other area where they feel drawn or gifted. No topic is too ordinary. Every talent is a doorway. Once the topic is identified, the internship guides the intern through three connected phases: Phase 1 Name Your Talent What do you love? What comes naturally to you? What have people affirmed in you? Interns use Voice Up's Spiritual Gifts Inventory and a Personal Narrative Journal to identify and articulate the specific talent or passion they will develop throughout the internship. Scripture study grounds this phase: Psalm 139, Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and Ephesians 2:10 help interns see their talent not as coincidence but as divine design. Phase 2 Connect It to God's Word No matter the topic, Scripture speaks to it. A student passionate about finance studies biblical stewardship (Proverbs 21:5, Malachi 3:10). A student drawn to music explores worship and cultural expression (Psalm 150, Colossians 3:16). An athlete examines perseverance and community (Hebrews 12:1, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). A student interested in mental health studies peace, restoration, and the renewed mind (Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:6-8). Voice Up provides facilitated scripture mapping so every intern can build a personal biblical framework around their topic not a generic one, but one rooted in who they specifically are. Phase 3 Take It to Your Community Talent confirmed by Scripture must be activated in service. Interns design and carry out a community impact project using their topic as the vehicle. This could be facilitating a workshop, mentoring peers, creating a resource, organizing a community event, or partnering with a local organization. The B Curriculum Voice Up's evidence-based life framework built on Breathing, Bamboo, Birds, Bench, Banking, Balance, and Belonging serves as a toolkit that interns draw from to structure their community engagement in ways that are accessible, research-supported, and spiritually grounded. EXAMPLES OF TALENT TOPICS IN ACTION Music: Biblical exploration of worship and healing leads to facilitating a rhythm and reflection session for youth in a local after-school program. Finance: Stewardship study leads to teaching a 4-week budgeting workshop at a local church or community center. Athletics: Scripture on perseverance and teamwork leads to designing a mentorship experience pairing college athletes with middle school students. Storytelling: Biblical narrative study leads to collecting and publishing life stories from community elders as a Voice Up contribution. Mental Health: Scripture on peace and renewal leads to co-facilitating Breathing and Belonging activities at a local nonprofit or behavioral health setting. Nature: Creation care theology leads to organizing a community birding and breathing event grounded in the Birds component of the B Curriculum. QUALITATIVE REFLECTION THROUGHOUT Research and reflection run alongside every phase. Interns document their journey through a Personal Narrative Journal, a Community Impact Observation Log, and a final Talent Discovery Map a culminating artifact that integrates their topic, Scripture connections, service evidence, and personal transformation into a single, shareable document. Interns who make substantial contributions to Voice Up's research through analytic writing, thematic analysis, or manuscript sections may be considered for co-authorship in peer-reviewed publications.
