VOICE UP THE PURPOSE GAMES
Leadership Mentor & Facilitation Internship
Guiding Students Through Purpose Discovery, Practice, and Contribution
Format: Remote / Hybrid
Time Commitment: Part-Time
Participation Options: Academic Credit · Volunteer · Voice Up University

OVERVIEW
The Leadership Mentor & Facilitation Internship prepares participants to serve as purpose guides for students engaging in The Purpose Games. This role is not instructional, evaluative, or clinical. Instead, interns learn how to create psychologically safe environments where students can explore identity, purpose, and contribution through structured practice.
Interns are trained in the Douglass Fuller Method, the Universities of Practice framework, and the B Curriculum, gaining the skills needed to facilitate purpose discovery with humility, care, and ethical clarity. Leadership mentors walk alongside students as they move from uncertainty toward clarity without pressure to perform, disclose, or conform.

THE CORE PROBLEM THIS INTERNSHIP ADDRESSES
The Mentorship Crisis
Students today are surrounded by adults who evaluate, grade, diagnose, or direct, but rarely by adults trained to hold space for exploration. Many students disengage not because of lack of ability, but because they lack safe relationships where uncertainty is welcome.
Traditional mentorship often emphasizes outcomes (college, careers, performance) rather than identity development and meaning-making. Counselors are overwhelmed, coaches focus on performance, and families want to help but lack tools.
What’s missing are trained facilitators who can guide purpose discovery without judgment.

THE PURPOSE GAMES MENTORSHIP MODEL
Leadership mentors are not instructors, counselors, or evaluators. They serve as:
Guides helping students move from uncertainty to clarity
Question-askers who invite reflection without forcing answers
Norm-holders maintaining safety so practice can happen
Witnesses who affirm growth and contribution
Translators helping students name what they are experiencing
Connectors linking personal purpose to collective contribution
This work requires training. Interns develop these skills through supervised practice and ongoing reflection.
