General Dirt Rental EQuipment Mechanic Lead

Heavy Rental Equipment Field mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and repair of large-scale construction machinery, such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, loaders, back hoes and graders.

Core Responsibilities
Diagnostics: Identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions using computerized diagnostic tools and software.

Repair & Overhaul: Disassemble, repair, and reassemble major components, including diesel engines, undercarriage, final drives, electrical and hydraulic failures etc

Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine servicing such as oil changes, filter replacements, cleaning, and lubricating parts to prevent breakdowns.

Component Servicing: Repair and maintain specialized attachments like winches, buckets, tracks, blades, and booms.

Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of repairs, maintenance tasks performed, and parts used for billing and safety compliance.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols and ensure all machinery meets OSHA and DOT standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED; many employers prefer a post-secondary degree or vocational training in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics.

Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading complex hydraulic and electrical schematics and blueprints.

Physical Aptitude: High manual dexterity and the ability to lift heavy parts (often up to 50 75 lbs) and work in awkward positions for extended periods.

Certifications: While not required, certifications from technical diesel college or specific manufacturers (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu) are highly valued.

Tools: This position does require mechanics to provide and maintain their own set of professional hand tools.
