Head of Operations

Our client is a fast-growing legal marketplace startup connecting consumers, law firms, and capital providers seeking a Head of Operations to serve as the operational quarterback across GTM, legal operations, marketplace operations, and business operations at a 4-person early-stage company.

This is a rare zero-to-one founding role for a seasoned marketplace operator who has owned P&L, launched new markets, and built operational systems from scratch that scale.

What You'll Do:

Serve as the operational quarterback across GTM, legal operations, marketplace operations, and business operations owning end-to-end execution

Build and scale systems, processes, and teams from scratch to support a three-sided marketplace connecting consumers, law firms, and capital providers

Manage supply and demand balancing across the marketplace, ensuring efficient matching and capital allocation

Own company-wide operating rhythms, KPI reporting, sprint strategy, and PMO management

Lead cross-functional strategic initiatives including new market expansion, vendor management, and client success operations

Work directly with the CEO as the primary partner for translating strategy into execution

Recruit, manage, and develop high-performing operators while building a culture of accountability and urgency

Leverage AI tools and low-code prototyping to unblock operational bottlenecks without waiting on engineering

Key Requirements:

8+ years in operations, marketplace operations, or consulting

Owned a P&L on the supply and/or demand side of a marketplace Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Airbnb-type experience

Launched a new market, vertical, or product line in a marketplace environment

Demonstrated quantified, end-to-end ownership with clear business metrics and ROI

Generalist breadth worn multiple hats across ops, sales/GTM, and strategy at a high-growth company

AI-first prototyping fluency can build with LLM and Cursor-type tools without hitting elementary bottlenecks

JD or legal background a strong plus

**Marketplace experience is non-negotiable for this senior role

Must be US-based and ideally already in NYC. Will not sponsor visas. Strongly prefer someone already in New York. Will consider people willing to relocate but NYC presence is critical because of state-by-state regulatory complexity.
