The Senior Scientist will have the following responsibilities:
Plan, execute, and report on trials in the Application and Technology Centre (ATC) or at the customer plants.
Demonstrate understanding of the cheesemaking process by focusing on Cheese segment technology and provide actionable recommendations based on appropriate data analysis.
Provide technical support to sales and customers for areas of responsibility, with focus on cultures and enzymes for defined segments of the Cheese Industry in close collaboration with the Commercial Development and account manager within a customer’s processing environment.
Collaborate closely with the global and local cheese application team, along with Sales, Commercial Development and R&D, and Digital Platform stakeholders to refine internal data-gathering systems and refine outputs.
Plan, coordinate, and perform experiments using appropriate methodology and equipment.
Produce relevant technical reports and TSRs to a high scientific and technical standard.
Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of processing changes made based on data analysis conclusions.
Collaborate closely with Commercial Development to develop and document new or existing concepts and solutions on the technical side, using appropriate tools to analyze data and critically evaluate and interpret the results obtained.
Find optimal ingredient solutions combining enzyme, cultures, and cheese technology for customer processes to support Chr-Hansen business.
Follow academic partnerships link to projects and students.
Prepare and conduct trainings, reports, presentations, and seminars for internal and external customers and partners.
Travel requirements:
Requires up to 50% domestic travel across North America (45% U.S. and 5% Canada) to execute projects and coordinate data collection with Account Managers at customer sites.
Telecommuting is permitted
May telecommute within commuting distance of West Allis, Milwaukee, facility.

Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in food science, dairy science, food technology, chemical engineering, or closely related field; plus 5 years (60 months) of experience in job offered or similar occupation in dairy, food technology, or biotechnology industry (including experience gained before degree completion).
PhD (or foreign equivalent) plus 2 years (24 months) of experience accepted in the alternative.
At least 5 years of experience in each of the following: technical support at customer sites; working in a dairy pilot plant; experimental design for dairy applications at customer facilities; and data collection in a relevant industrial environment.
