Hanwha Advanced Materials America, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Systems & Process Engineer to support advanced automotive manufacturing operations at our Opelika, Alabama facility. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in manufacturing systems, production process optimization, equipment troubleshooting, manufacturing data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives for high-volume automotive component production.
This position requires specialized knowledge of automotive manufacturing systems, production engineering methodologies, automated manufacturing equipment, manufacturing execution systems, production data analysis, and technical coordination with Korean engineering organizations and equipment suppliers.
The Manufacturing Systems & Process Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining stable production operations, improving manufacturing efficiency, supporting new manufacturing initiatives, and implementing process improvements within the Company’s automotive manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Systems & Process Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
• Provide production engineering support for automotive manufacturing operations, including process improvement, manufacturing system optimization, and production stability initiatives.
• Analyze manufacturing data, production records, MES information, equipment logs, and inspection results to identify production issues and improvement opportunities.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA), including 5 Why analysis and data-driven investigations, to identify causes of equipment, process, and quality-related issues.
• Support troubleshooting and improvement of automated manufacturing equipment, inspection systems, industrial computers, communication systems, and production software.
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and recommend improvements to increase productivity, reduce downtime, and improve operational efficiency.
• Support implementation, modification, and verification of manufacturing systems, including MES, SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM), production databases, and manufacturing documentation systems.
• Assist with preventive maintenance planning and equipment reliability improvement activities.
• Analyze equipment performance, process conditions, and production trends to prevent recurring manufacturing issues.
• Support engineering changes, manufacturing process modifications, and production improvement projects.
• Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including Control Plans, work instructions, process standards, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, IT, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Coordinate technical communication with Korean headquarters, affiliated engineering organizations, and equipment suppliers regarding manufacturing improvements, equipment modifications, and technical issues.
• Support localization and implementation of Korean-developed manufacturing standards and production methodologies within U.S. manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Experience supporting manufacturing engineering, production engineering, process improvement, or manufacturing systems activities.
• Experience analyzing manufacturing data and troubleshooting production issues.
• Knowledge of manufacturing systems, automated production equipment, and industrial production processes.
• Ability to perform technical analysis involving hardware, software, equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause investigations.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in automotive manufacturing or automotive Tier-1 supplier operations.
• Experience supporting high-volume production environments.
• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM), or production data systems.
• Experience with functional inspection systems, Machine Vision systems, industrial PCs, or manufacturing automation.
• Experience working with Korean automotive manufacturing standards or Korean engineering organizations.
• Knowledge of automotive quality and manufacturing methodologies, including Control Plans, process optimization, and preventive maintenance systems.
• Korean and English bilingual communication skills preferred.
