Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Field Service Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, commissioning, and maintaining water control gates, valves, and their associated manual, electric, and hydraulic operating systems at customer sites across the United States.
This position requires a hands-on professional with strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills who enjoys working in the field and providing exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This role involves approximately 50% domestic travel, including overnight stays, and occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain water control gates, valves, sluice gates, stop logs, and associated operating systems.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system issues at customer locations.
Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service calls to maximize equipment reliability and performance.
Conduct system testing, functional checks, calibration, alignment, and operational verification.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical manuals.
Provide technical support during equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
Collaborate with Engineering teams by providing field feedback and recommending product improvements.
Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure installations and service activities meet project schedules and customer expectations.
Work closely with Manufacturing and Production teams to understand equipment configurations and support quality improvement initiatives.
Assemble mechanical equipment and components when working at the manufacturing facility.
Prepare detailed service reports documenting inspections, repairs, replacement parts, labor hours, and recommendations.
Develop or customize operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, presentations, and customer documentation.
Train customers on proper equipment operation, preventive maintenance, and safety procedures.
Maintain service tools, testing equipment, company vehicle, and spare parts inventory.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and customer site safety requirements.
Provide excellent customer service while representing the company professionally.
Travel throughout the United States and occasionally internationally to support customer projects.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Field Service Technician, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Technician, or similar role.
Strong experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Experience installing and maintaining industrial equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical drawings.
Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Passport.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the water treatment, wastewater, municipal infrastructure, flood control, or dam gate industry.

Ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours when required.
Travel Requirements
Up to 50% travel throughout the United States.
Approximately 5% international travel.
Overnight travel required based on project schedules.
