Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

The client is seeking an experienced Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to elevate enterprise performance through mission-driven, data-led operational leadership. In this newly established role, the EVP and COO will lead day-to-day operations across acute care and ambulatory care and will partner with senior leaders to translate strategic vision into disciplined, high-impact execution. The client emphasizes operational integration, consistency, and effectiveness across hospitals, medical groups, ambulatory platforms, service lines, and key enterprise functions. Reporting to the client’s President and CEO, the EVP and COO will provide enterprise-wide operational leadership and performance oversight, serving as a principal partner in ensuring execution is measurable and aligned to organizational priorities. The role includes close collaboration with the Chief Physician Executive to advance the academic and research mission, strengthening clinical education, physician engagement, and innovation across the system. The EVP and COO is also expected to help drive goals related to high-performing clinical and operational outcomes, continued revenue growth, improved health outcomes, and maintaining an employer-of-choice culture. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as business administration, finance, or operations management), with a graduate degree in a related area strongly preferred. The position typically requires a minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare delivery, operations, or enterprise management, including 7–10 years in senior executive roles within a multi-hospital, integrated health system. Candidates should demonstrate experience leading enterprise-wide operations across hospitals, ambulatory platforms, medical groups, and/or service lines, and should show proven success operating at scale in complex organizations that are comparable in size and integration, with preference for nationally recognized nonprofit, academic, or integrated healthcare delivery networks.
