Chief Pediatric Anesthesia

The client is seeking a Division Chief for Pediatric Anesthesia. This role is intended for a Pediatric Anesthesiologist (MD or DO) who is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and has demonstrated clinical leadership in pediatric anesthesia. In partnership with the Chair of Anesthesiology, the Chief will plan, organize, and direct the Pediatric Anesthesiology program, providing clinical leadership across a multi-hospital system. The Division Chief will provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the pediatric anesthesia division across the system, including affiliated community hospitals. Responsibilities include leading recruitment efforts, overseeing clinical anesthesia care for a high-acuity pediatric case mix (including neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, MRI, and trauma/ICU) across operating rooms, and aligning the pediatric anesthesia service with broader departmental and system priorities to promote excellence in operations, culture, mentorship, and national academic engagement. The role also includes managing call coverage schedules and workload equitably, collaborating closely with nursing, surgical, and administrative leaders, and maintaining and advancing quality, safety, and outcomes metrics. The successful candidate will be committed to patient care, the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and scholarly activities that advance clinical medicine and the academic mission of the medical center. Appointment to an academic title is expected to be commensurate with experience. Required qualifications include an MD/DO or equivalent degree, board certification in Pediatric Anesthesia, and eligibility for a medical license in New York. The role also calls for strong administrative and interpersonal skills, credible clinical and scholarly leadership, high integrity, and highly collaborative communication with physicians, nurses, and other care providers.
