Staff Research Scientist (0019-0043)
Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced reasoning, planning, scheduling and multi-agent coordination algorithms for cloud-native, real-time systems. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and clients to translate research breakthroughs and industrial practices into customer-facing features and services. Spearhead pilot projects and proofs-of-concept to validate new approaches and guide their transition into production. Define and evolve long-term research strategies that align with company objectives and de-risk high-impact opportunities. Provide architectural guidance and hands-on mentorship, elevating engineering and research best practices across teams. Share findings through documentation, talks, and code reviews to foster a strong learning culture. Publish internally and externally in relevant conferences and journals to promote thought leadership. Drive operational excellence by establishing rigorous experimentation, reproducibility, and scalable deployment workflows.
40 hours/week, 9:00am-5:00pm
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Operations Research, or a closely related field plus five (5) years of Experience in any of the following fields: artificial intelligence, planning and scheduling algorithms, constraint programming and combinatorial optimization, multi-agent systems.
Must have five (5) years of experience in each of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
o Designing and implementing AI-reasoning algorithms
o Modeling and formulating real-world problems as constraint problems.
o Working with AI models and/or optimization solvers (e.g. Gurobi, CPLEX, or OR-Tools).
o Programming backend code in Python, Java, or other modern programming languages.
o Collaborative code development using git
o Developing in Linux/MacOS environments
Three (3) years of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):
o Architecting and deploying services with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar automation
and cloud-native technologies
o Researching and publishing in top-tier venues in AI/optimization/robotics venues (ICAPS,
ICRA, AAAI, NeurIPS, IJCAI).
Travel Requirements
International and domestic travel required up to 25% to visit clients and MOBI company headquarters.
Telecommuting/Remote Work is Permitted
Telecommuting permitted 100%.
