Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring an Operating Room Attendant for the Main OR in Harrisonburg, VA. This is a full time, first shift position with required call.

Hours: from 630A to 3P Monday to Friday

Required call is every 3rd Weekend- Friday, Saturday, Sunday 24-hour call.

Department Overview:

We are made up of two operating rooms and one hybrid OR. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team of Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The CTOR surgical team is close knit and work with our Beacon award winning CCU staff for post-operative care. Training and precepting for those new to the Cardiac Operating Room is one on one with our well-trained staff offering best in class education. We want you see our CTOR team succeed!

Cardiac procedures we perform include:

Aortic Root Replacement
Pericardiectomy
Thoracotomy
Transmyocardial Revascularization
Tricuspid Valve Repair/Replacement
Ventricular Assist Device Placement
Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery
Cardiac repairs for:

Aortic Aneurysm/Dissection (Ascending & Descending)
Atrial Myxoma
Atrial Septal Defect
Patent Foramen Ovale
Ventricular Septal Defect
Ventricular Aneurysm

The Operating Room (OR) Attendant supports professional staff in caring for the surgical patient. This support is met through the transportation of patients from inpatient/emergency room/ICU departments to the pre-op holding area. In addition to the transportation of patients, the OR attendant is responsible for the cleaning of the operating room suites between surgical procedures. OR Attendants will support anesthesia staff both in the operating room setting as well as ancillary departments by ensuring adequate stocking of anesthesia supplies in medication carts, the cleaning of anesthesia machines, and the transportation of anesthesia machines and carts. OR attendants will be asked to transport specimens and blood products to and from the lab as well as ensure proper stocking of various formalin containers used for specimen handling and transport. The OR attendant will assist in the positioning of surgical patients with the guidance of professional OR staff. The OR attendant will help prepare the operating room suite by the opening of sterile supplies onto the sterile field and ensuring the proper equipment is available in the room for the surgical procedure.

Education

High School Graduate or equivalent required

Certification/Licensure

BLS within 90 days of hire Required

Experience

Environmental Service; Acute care inventory supply; and Operating room support preferred.
Prior healthcare experience preferred
Ability to transition between tasks efficiently required
Team work and communication skills required
