Welder / Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Welder / Fitter to join our fabrication team. You will be responsible for the fit-up and welding of steel and aluminum components used in the manufacture of custom truck bodies, trailers, and related products including dump bodies, water tank bodies, and subframe assemblies. The ideal candidate is a solid welder who can layout, fit, and tack components to print with a high focus on quality.

Key Responsibilities
Fit-Up & Fabrication
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine layout and materials.
Layout, measure, cut, and position steel and aluminum components using hand tools, grinders, plasma cutters, and torches.
Fit and tack-weld components into position, maintaining correct tolerances.
Clamp and align parts using squares, levels, and fixture tools to ensure proper fit.

Welding Operations
Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on steel and aluminum per specifications.
Weld in multiple positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead.
Grind, clean, and finish weld seams to meet appearance and quality standards.

Quality & Safety
Inspect welds for defects, proper penetration, and conformance.
Maintain welding equipment and report any maintenance needs.
Follow all shop safety protocols and consistently use required PPE.

Qualifications
Education High school diploma or equivalent. Welding trade program or apprenticeship completion is preferred.

Experience Minimum 2 4 years of hands-on MIG welding and fitting experience in a fabrication or truck body shop environment.

Technical Proficient in MIG (GMAW) for steel and aluminum. Ability to read blueprints and use plasma cutters/torches. Stick (SMAW) ability is a plus.

Certification AWS certification is a plus but not required.
Physical Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in shop conditions (heat, fumes) in various physical positions.

License Valid Driver's License Required.
