Afterschool STEAM & Gardening Instructor

Compensation: $45 $65 per session

Program Overview
We are looking for a passionate and energetic instructor to lead an afterschool gardening and environmental learning program for upper elementary students. This role focuses on helping students connect with nature through hands-on gardening activities, outdoor exploration, and simple sustainability lessons.

Students will learn how plants grow, how ecosystems work, and how small environmental actions can make a big impact all through fun, age-appropriate activities.

Responsibilities
Facilitate hands-on gardening sessions for Grades 3 5 students
Guide students in planting, watering, soil care, and basic garden maintenance
Introduce simple environmental topics such as composting, pollinators, and sustainability
Create engaging, outdoor-friendly lessons that keep students active and curious
Supervise students safely during outdoor and indoor activities
Encourage teamwork, responsibility, and care for living things
Follow site guidelines and maintain a positive program experience

Qualifications
Background in environmental science, biology, education, or gardening/horticulture
Experience in outdoor education, nature programs, or sustainability projects
Passion for environmental learning and youth engagement

Requirements
Experience working with children in a school, camp, or youth program setting
Comfortable leading outdoor or hands-on activities
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
