Jackson and Coker is seeking a Pediatric Hospitalist Physician for a locums opportunity in Mississippi. The position involves minimal call burden and focuses on rounding and stabilizing high-acuity cases for transfer.
Practice Info
- Dedicated pediatric unit
- 12-bed unit with very low pediatric admission volume (<20 admissions/year)
- Level II Nursery
- High-acuity cases stabilized and transferred out
- EMR: Epic
Responsibilities
- Daily rounding begins around 8:00 AM
- Attend C-sections or high-risk deliveries only (infrequent)
- 24-hour call coverage (rarely called in; primarily for emergency C-sections)

Shift & Schedule
- <2 hours/day rounding (including charting)
- Goal: discharge patients before 2:00 PM
- Less than 1 ER call per day on average
- Approximately 1 weekend of call per month
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
- PALS certification required
- Comfortable with newborn care in a Level II nursery
