SVP Mortgage Lending

the client is seeking an SVP Mortgage Lending to provide senior executive leadership over the mortgage lending team and daily operations. This role will oversee direct reports and focus on expanding the organization’s lending footprint beyond the Houston region, with experience in statewide originations and established connections in major metro markets including Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. The SVP of Real Estate will also support efforts to recruit, train, and manage mortgage loan officers and help drive market share growth. Responsibilities include collaborating with leadership to help define and implement corporate culture, strategic plans, tactics, budgets, and priorities; providing strategic and executive leadership for lending operations; and overseeing the lending operating department across origination, processing, underwriting, servicing, and closing. The role will lead performance improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce origination costs, develop and execute strategies to improve service levels, revenue, and productivity, and support solution development. It will also develop process improvement plans, manage budgets and tactics, and handle forecasting and staffing needs to support loan volume growth. In addition, the SVP will establish, monitor, and report on operating activity and key metrics to ensure processes are efficient, effective, and aligned with quality standards, applicable laws and regulations, and investor guidelines. The role includes coaching and guidance to support team advancement, as well as the ability to build internal controls and manage complex, regulatory environments. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree preferred; five or more years of senior management experience in the mortgage industry; ten or more years of technical experience in mortgage lending operations; maintenance of required NMLS, state, and Safe Act licensing for control person purposes; and working knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA/VA loans. Experience with the Encompass platform is preferred.
