Remote Contract General

Serves as the subject matter expert for the electrical engineering standards and specifications across all EDF RE’s project portfolio, as assigned by the Director of Engineering & Program Management. Several field areas of expertise are acceptable: power system studies, collector system design, BESS design, equipment (inverters, transformers, etc.)

Supports project development, prepares interconnection applications, performs preliminary plant design, drafts single-line diagrams, and completes similar engineering duties as required.

Supports proposal and estimating activities.

Responsible for representing engineering in all designated subject matter related matters across all projects, including attending the project meetings in person or by phone (as required).

Writes, edits, and reviews the technical specifications and scope of work documents produced by the engineering department in the support of proposal, due diligence, estimating and contracting activities.

Reviews and responds to RFI/submittals.

Communicates, reports, and tracks key project deliverables assigned by the Project Engineering Manager.

Proposes continuous improvement and innovative solutions for the company.

Actively participates in external technical seminars, as approved by the supervisor.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering or his/her designee.

Education and Experience Requirements

U.S. Bachelor’s Degree or foreign academic equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or a related position. In the alternative, will accept a U.S. Master’s Degree or foreign academic equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Special Skills Requirements

Industry experience and demonstrated extensive knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and engineering principles and practices required to produce safe, efficient, reliable, easy to operate and maintain, and cost-effective designs. Industry experience and demonstrated proficiency with cable ampacity and analysis, including assessment of proper sizing and current derating. Industry experience and demonstrated proficiency with Balance of Plant Engineering design review (PV, wind, and/or battery energy storage system plants). Industry experience and demonstrated proficiency with power flow analysis. Industry experience with: Microsoft products, including Word, Excel, Visio, Project, Outlook, and Power Point. Power System Modeling Software (ETAP, CYMCAP) Industry codes, including but not limited to, IEEE 1584, IEEE 519, NEC 2020, and NESC Electrical equipment design, including but not limited to, power transformers, inverters, and cables.

Travel Requirements

20% domestic and international travel to client sites, expenses paid.

Telecommuting/Remote Work is Permitted

Telecommuting is allowed 2 days / week
