Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, or 5 years with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in the media and entertainment industry or in a partner-facing role with media and entertainment partners.
  • Experience in partnering with executives and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing and executing partnership agreements, renewals, or commercial partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working directly at major media companies (e.g., streaming platforms, broadcasters, or content publishers) or in a platform partnership role at a technology company.
  • Experience in growth consulting, partner optimization, or leveraging data analysis to identify and drive business growth opportunities.
  • Experience executing complex, cross-functional partnership initiatives with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience negotiating agreements, commercial terms, or partnership renewals within the media space.

About the job

As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.

In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the growth of the media and entertainment category across the Android ecosystem, including Google Play. You will manage a portfolio of key media and entertainment partners, driving strategic initiatives to expand content distribution, accelerate the adoption of key Google product features, and grow partner engagement and monetization across Platforms and Devices surfaces.

This team acts as growth consultants, providing regional insights, best practices, and proposal building to help partners optimize their business and growth on the platform. This position offers a unique opportunity to manage partners holistically—acting across partnership management, strategic growth, and cross-functional implementation to drive long-term success.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $140000 - $204000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Support the growth of the media and entertainment (M&E) category across the Android ecosystem by managing a portfolio of M&E partners to support cross-surface distribution, accelerate adoption of key product features, and grow engagement and monetization across Platforms & Devices (P&D) surfaces.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Google Play, as well as other relevant Android platforms, including product integration requirements and policies.
  • Build relationships with and develop strategic growth plans for partners.
  • Initiate new agreements with partners and renewals/expansions for existing partners, drive exploratory talks, and build consensus with internal and external executives.
  • Build deep partner expertise and share best practices internally and externally working with cross-product area (xPA) teams to identify and align on opportunities for top M&E partners.
