Staff Structural Engineer (0097-0002)
Perform site investigative evaluations and understand civil/structural testing data to determine the root cause of structural engineering and building envelope failures. Record observations, perform and witness testing, and write findings into a detailed report. Perform investigations and assessments regarding the design, construction, and standard of care associated with planned improvements and the built environment involving geotechnical engineering, soil-structure interactions, structural systems, civil sitework, exterior cladding systems, building envelopes (moisture and thermal), peril damage, and personal injury. Evaluate single-family residences, multi-family apartment/condominium complexes, commercial facilities, warehouses, institutional facilities, and industrial facilities as well as ancillary structures including retaining walls, screen walls, and swimming pools. Document facts and give a thorough and complete report on all related findings. Perform technical research as needed to support investigation. Apply engineering theory, education, and previous work knowledge to real world situations. Prepare precise and unbiased written reports of complex findings for site investigations based on field inspections and research on a timely basis. Communicate with engineering team daily. Meet with clients as needed to review findings and make recommendations. Establish working relationships. Up to 30% domestic travel to customer sites to perform field inspections.
Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related academic field plus 4 years of experience in structural engineering, forensics engineering, or a related field and demonstrated experience in steel, timber, and concrete design; Field investigation of distressed structures including foundations, framing, and building envelope; Forensic report writing and photograph processing; Engineering services for litigation of structural, building envelope, code compliance, and construction defect matters; Enercalc; RAM Structural System; and AutoCAD. Must be Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and have a valid driver’s license.
