Role Description The Cashier role is a full-time, on-site position based at Peabody Building Supplies Outlet in Peabody, MA. The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer purchases, including handling cash, credit, and electronic payments at the point of sale. Day-to-day tasks include greeting customers, scanning items, verifying prices, issuing receipts, and answering basic questions about products, promotions, and store policies. The Cashier also assists with maintaining a clean and organized checkout area, restocking impulse items near the register, and coordinating with team members to resolve pricing or inventory issues. This role requires consistent punctuality, dependable attendance, and a focus on delivering respectful, efficient service to every customer.

Qualifications

Strong basic math skills and attention to detail for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
Customer service skills, including clear communication, professional demeanor, and the ability to assist a diverse range of customers.
Comfort using point-of-sale systems, cash registers, and payment terminals; ability to learn new retail software quickly.
Reliability and time management skills, including the ability to follow schedules, manage busy periods, and handle multiple customers efficiently.
Ability to stand for extended periods, move between registers and sales floor, and occasionally lift or carry light to moderate items.
