The GIS Coordinator conducts planning and surveillance activities related to the measurement and visualization of communicable diseases, health conditions, health resources/accessibility, and public health preparedness activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Regularly engage with stakeholders and partners across various departments, health departments, and the private sector.
• Manage GIS team project work deliverables and deadlines using project management skills, including communication, organization, and metric tracking.
• Serve as the team leader and primary point of contact for the Public Health Geographics team.
• Utilize data governance best practices, specifically those related to GIS products.
• Provide geostatistical analysis, measurements, and reports regarding communicable disease surveillance, outbreaks, disasters, and public health preparedness.
• Create and maintain accurate geospatial datasets and data visualizations.
• Develop and maintain workflows that integrate datasets and automate analytical methods.
• Develop web-based applications utilizing both configurable services and customized development.
• Utilize appropriate geographic information system software and statistical packages.
• Provide recommendations to supervisors and developers regarding data workflow methodology.
• Assist the department during emergency activations with logistical support.
• Familiarity with GeoAI (or the ability to learn) is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required / Desired Skills
• Knowledge of geospatial concepts Required - 2 Years
• Knowledge of appropriate cartographic designs and solutions Required - 2 Years
• Work in ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software Required - 2 Years
• Work in ESRI ArcGIS Software as a Service platform and configurable applications Required - 2 Years
• Work with Python, ArcGIS API for Python, ArcPy, and other data science packages including web automation and scraping capabilities Required - 2 Years
• Work with JavaScript and ArcGIS JavaScript API Required - 2 Years
• Knowledge of SQL within Oracle and SQL Server platforms Required - 2 Years
• Managerial/supervisory experience within a health-related field, data/technology-related field, or in another comparable field Required - 4 Years
