About the job

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Pixel Carrier Certification, you will drive the end-to-end laboratory testing and certification life cycle for Pixel smartphones and cellular-capable wireless devices. Sitting within the Conformance and Carrier Lab team, you will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GCF, PTCRB, CTIA, and carrier-specific testing standards.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between technical execution and strategic program management. You will manage multiple simultaneous New Product Introduction (NPI) and In-Market projects, ensuring all devices strictly comply with 3GPP (4G LTE/5G NR) and carrier requirements. You will serve as a crucial technical pivot point—partnering directly with leading test equipment vendors (such as Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, and Anritsu) to ensure system readiness, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot complex protocol/RF issues, and aligning resources across global labs to guarantee seamless, on-time product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead NPI/In market projects for all major GCF/PTCRB for smartphones and wireless devices, managing deliverables for major/minor releases, coordinating testing activities, and securing cross-labs resources.
  • Support multiple simultaneous projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot/resolve reported issues and managing communication or escalating technical issues when necessary.
  • Partner with test equipment vendors to ensure test system hardware and software readiness, mitigating risks for Pixel product certification.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to clarify certification test requirements/timelines with Cert. T/PGMs, serving as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GCF/PTCRB, CTIA and carrier certifications.
  • Manage GCF/PTCRB and carrier test plan updates by aligning test equipment and team readiness, ensuring all testing strictly meets 3GPP and carrier certification standards.
