We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance department. This contract position is dedicated to a specific "Project Clean Up" initiative, focused on auditing and reconciling legacy, open projects to ensure they are accurately documented and successfully closed out in our financial systems.

Core Responsibilities
• Project Reconciliation & Audit: Perform comprehensive audits of historical project activities. Reconcile project accounts to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
• Financial Transactions: Process journal entries and revenue transactions as required to correct project records.
• Project Close-out: Manage the formal process of reconciling and requesting the closure of assigned projects upon successful completion.
• Data Analysis: Engage in thorough reviews of financial data and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant grant requirements and notice of award stipulations.
• Collaboration: Work independently while effectively coordinating with various finance teams to resolve complex issues and complete required transactions.

Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent compensatory experience in the accounting field.
• Experience: 2 4 years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

Technical Knowledge:
• Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Thorough understanding and application of Generally Accepted Audit Standards (GAAS).
• Solid knowledge of governmental accounting principles.

Skills:
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on researching and recommending remedies for complex financial issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of an organization.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage pressure, and exercise diplomacy and tact.
• Experience developing and following established financial procedures.
