Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated hunger to learn and rapidly master emerging technologies at scale.

Our team is building together with the Electric Platform, the fast growing engine powering Google’s transition from reactive retrieval to proactive assistance through Information Agents, a top Knowledge and Information (K&I) priority. We are pioneering agentic intelligence within Search and AI Mode (AIM), enabling users to initiate long-running "informational journeys" that proactively keep them updated.

This project has been critical to redefine the Search stack with technologies, with significant architectural issues, delegating complex info-needs journeys that once required multiple user sessions to autonomous agents.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement features such as multi-thread agent architecture and browser-use capabilities.
  • Manage research signals, engineering, quality analysis, experimentation, evaluation methods to develop user-facing features that leverage new AI breakthroughs.
  • Develop support for Agentic Capabilities, including browser use, credential management for complex agent behaviors.
  • Address issues in delivery scalability and response quality, ensuring agents provide concise, high-utility updates without "novel-length" verbosity.
