We are seeking highly skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Independent Subcontractor Field Technicians to support the hands-on maintenance, deployment, and optimization of IT infrastructure across our national banking client's retail branches and corporate offices. As a field technician, you will serve as our "eyes and hands" on the ground, executing technical workflows driven by a centralized Network Operations Center (NOC) and project management team.

The ideal technician possesses a strong background in network hardware, structured cabling, and commercial IT environments, paired with the professional demeanor required to work in secure financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Management & Maintenance: Install, rack, stack, and patch switches, routers, firewalls, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and server components.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, connectivity issues, and peripheral faults (e.g., ticket printers, ATM communications, branch servers) under the remote direction of a tier-2/3 engineer or NOC.

Upgrades & Migrations: Execute scheduled hardware refreshes, lifecycle upgrades, and memory/drive replacements with strict adherence to maintenance windows to minimize branch downtime.

Decommissioning & Asset Disposal: Securely remove legacy hardware, execute data-destruction/drive-wiping protocols where required, and meticulously pack and label assets for reverse logistics and e-waste compliance.

Structured Cabling & Layer 1 Support: Install, terminate, test, and trace Cat5e/Cat6 copper and fiber optic cabling. Ensure all patching is neatly dressed, labeled, and documented according to strict enterprise standards.

Site Surveys & Documentation: Conduct comprehensive site audits, document rack layouts, take clear high-resolution photographs of completions, and deliver structured deliverables immediately following dispatch completion.

Required Credentials, Education & Certifications:
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Technical Education is highly preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3 5 years of verifiable field experience handling commercial or enterprise-level IT infrastructure deployments (retail, banking, or corporate environments).

Core Certifications (Highly Preferred)

While hands-on capability is paramount, having at least one or two of the following ensures baseline competence:

CompTIA A+ / Network+: The baseline standard for fundamental troubleshooting, hardware replacement, and networking concepts.

Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) or CCNA: Demonstrates a solid grasp of routing, switching, and the ability to confidently navigate console connections under NOC guidance.

BICSI (Installer 2, Copper/Fiber): Highly advantageous for roles heavily involving structured cabling and enterprise cleanups.

Background & Vetting: Must pass a stringent, comprehensive criminal background check (mandatory for financial institution access).

Tools of the Trade: Must possess a reliable vehicle and a complete field kit, including:
-Console cables (USB to RJ45/Serial).
-Laptop with Ethernet port and terminal emulation software (e.g., PuTTY).
-Network cable tester/toner and termination tools (crimpers, punch-down).
-Basic hand tools, cordless drill, and smartphone for real-time closing photos.
