About the Role

The Company is seeking a Senior Underwriter and Portfolio Manager with a focus on maritime finance. This hybrid role involves both office and fieldwork, and the successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting and managing a portfolio of asset-backed maritime financing transactions. Key responsibilities include leading deal teams, mentoring junior staff, and preparing presentations and reports for regulatory and internal purposes. The role also requires active participation in the new business process, from evaluating and pre-screening transactions to conducting due diligence, and presenting to the credit committee. The candidate will be expected to analyze financial statements, capital structures, and industry trends to identify transaction risks and recommend appropriate structures. Applicants for this role at the company should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 6 years' of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management, or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years' of relevant experience. A background in maritime finance or the maritime industry is strongly preferred, as is a degree with a concentration in finance or accounting. Formal credit training and experience in underwriting and executing senior debt transactions are also desirable. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, be a team player, and demonstrate self-motivation with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively. Responsibilities also include maintaining familiarity with bank policies and procedures, interfacing with various internal departments, and managing information requests from auditors and examiners.
